Mr. Gertjan is a partner at a respected International Tax firm since 2015. He assists clients with national and international tax issues, as well with the structuring of estates in an (inter-)national context. His consultancy and support services cover both private assets (often linked to financial assets and wealth, capital gains or investments) and income as well as related corporate tax advice for familial businesses. In these fields, he also assists individual and corporate clients with dispute settlement and litigation.

Over the years, Mr. Gertjan has built up particular experience in advising on asset structures, private M&A, equity incentives, migration and emigration of high-net-worth individuals and companies, cross-border equity investments. Following personal interests, Mr. Gertjan also professionally advises artists and athletes in an international context.

Mr. Gertjan enjoys sharing his expertise through articles in specialist journals. He is the editor of the reference book on Belgian Cayman tax, together with Prof. Dr. Bart Peeters. Mr. Gertjan is a speaker at various conferences in Belgium (Febelfin) and abroad (Hong Kong, Geneva, Zurich, Luxemburg).

Mr. Gertjan is a member of the Antwerp Bar. He is also an active member of AIJA (www.aija.org and current President of the AIJA Tax Law Commission). In this capacity, Mr. Gertjan organized events of tax for artists and athletes, private equity and taxation and the first AIJA Wealth Lab.
